Performance of Chickpea Varieties under Rainfed Black Soils of Chamarajanagara District, Karnataka (Zone-6)

Background: The major constraint in rainfed chickpea cultivation is unavailability of short duration, wilt resistant and high yielding varieties Chamarajanagara district. In this regard, an investigation was carried out to identify suitable for District, Karnataka (Zone-6). Methods: As a part on farm testing ICAR-KVK, conducted field experiment during rabi 2018-19, 2019-20 2020-21 (Three years) farmers at Kotamballi village. Four viz., Annigere-1, JG-11, Jaki-9218 BGD-103 were tested under randomized complete block design (RCBD) which replicated seven times. Result: study revealed that variety recorded significantly higher grain yield (14.28 q/ha) per cent protein content (20.10%) with the minimum disease incidence 7.93 cent. growth parameters also better as compared other varieties. highest 29.2 A-1 followed by JG-11 (26.09%). net return ₹.35703/ha benefit cost ratio 2.16 found be black soils (Zone-6) due incidence, duration nature, seed day productivity.
